Manassa turquoise is mined east of Manassa, in south central Colorado. It is known for its blue-green to green color with a golden or brown, non-webbed matrix. The Manassa mine is still in production, and owned by the King family, thus the alternate name "King Manassa"sometimes used for this turquoise.

A fine pendant by artisan Phil Sanchez featuring the fabled No8 Turquoise.

The Number 8 turquoise mine is located in Carlin, Nevada, which is a place well know for many rare and highly collectable variations of quality turquoise. This particular mine began mining in 1929. The unique spider web matrix gave the stone a very unique look and began to gain popularity in the 1930’s. The Number 8 turquoise mine produced some of the largest and most beautiful nuggets known to collectors and experts today.
Sometimes Number 8 mine turquoise has a very deep blue coloration with spider web matrix. If you run across this particular color consider yourself lucky! The average stone is green with golden brown spider web matrix. Usually this turquoise is used by talented artists who create magnificent and top-quality pieces. The Number 8 mine turquoise is rare and highly collectable.
