Dorothy Lockley Original Works
The Central Gallery holds a number of original works by the late Dorothy Lockley some of which are being released for sale.
Dorothy was introduced to us after her retirement, and after we sold some of her paintings on a commission basis, she began producing work exclusively for our gallery, which was very popular with collectors of floral art because of the botanical authenticity see insisted upon in her painting. Although she worked as an illustrator/designer in many fields, her private interest was in botanical subjects, but it was not until she retired that she had time to concentrate on her interest and the result was wonderful botanical paintings.
She was well into her 70's when she produced her five largest floral works, and as in much of her art she seldom produced a simple composition showing a single flower , but collected her subjects and arranged them into a beautifuly composed bunch. The five five large paintings were produced as limited edition prints, and nine were produced as greeting cards. Most of the works we held are now with collectors, but your chance to own an original is made possible by the release of these fifteen original works. The photographs of the framed works, detailed blow-ups and mounts, were all taken with the painting behind glass. This will affect the colour and show some reflection and are provided only to give an indication. Prospective purchasers are advised (and more that welcome) to arrange a visit to view the work.
Transport Of Original Art
Framed original work will not be forwarded, but may be collected from our premises. However, the painting, including mounts, can be removed from their frames (where applicable) and forwarded mounted, but the price remains the same. They will be shipped insured flat in protective packaging at cost.

The Greeting Card Images
Dorothy produced a number of paintings some of which we published as greeting cards. The two beautifuly detailed paintings entitled Hawthorn Berries and May Blossom are by far our two favourites The soft tonal colouration of May Blossom with the flowers slightly tinged with pink produced a painting that would grace any wall, especialy an area of relaxation. The stronger colouration of Hawthorn Berries provides a contrast to May Blossom whilst retaining a soft tonal feel to provide a painting that can hang virtualy anywhere you choose. The two paintings should have been produced as Limited Edition Prints rather than as greeting cards, as they lend themselves to reproduction in their original size. Unfortunately the cards were produced first which meant that limited editions could not be published. The other images used for greeting cards are smaller paintings but with no less detail for botanical authenticity.
The photographs of the framed works, detailed blow-ups and mounts, were all taken with the painting behind glass. This will affect the colour and show some reflaction and are provided only to give an indication. Prospective purchasers are advised (and more that welcome) to arrange a visit to view the work.
